Yeast, the destroyer

Yeast is useful fungus because it helps to make bread rise and is used to make fizzy drinks such as ginger beer. Yeast is called a decomposer because it breaks things down. You can watch yeast decompose a banana.

Peel a banana and slice it in half. Put one slice in a jar and sprinkle dry yeast over it. Put the other slice in another jar. Sprinkle both bananas with little water. Cover the jars with a cloth and place the jars in warm place.Keep for a few days and watch what happens.

What happens to the banana with yeast added?

                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                .

Fungi - classification

Biologists divide all living things into five kingdoms: Animal, Plant, Fungi,  Bacteria and Protista. Fungi are not included in the plant kingdom because they have no roots, no stem, and they don't make their energy from sunlight.

Fungi get their nutrients from the plants and animals around them .Some fungi feed on dead plants by making them decompose. These fungi include mushrooms, Toadstool and puffballs. Other kinds of fungi can feed on living things. These include mould, mildew, and many plant diseases.

Fungi reproduce themselves by spreading tiny spores. A single Fungus can produce millions of spores. Some fungi are toxic, while others, such as yeast, are helpful.

Do some work if  you wanna try it no cheating! >:(
